And how has technology escaped from being something that sat (politely, quietly) on our desktop to something that pervades every part of our lives and cuts through industry after industry with an amazing, chaotic whirlwind of change?What is true today is that we dont have a separate tech sector or tech industry anymore. Technology cant be closed off in a box and left to the technology team. And technology is no longer just a part of the org chart.Its the whole org chart.And while that might be a bit obvious when youre thinking about companies, and competition, and consumer choices, have you thought about what this means for you, your career and your family?And have you thought about what changes youll need to make in your life and you r career as a result?Because the hallmark of technology industries is that stuff is always changing.And that means your job will always be changing.At some point in the past, the advice of your parents or grandparents went like thisGet an education, get credentials or get a professional degree, pay your dues, and youll earn a good living.And thats just not true anymore.Its certainly not been true in technology for a long time todays popular software, device, or system ended up in the back of the closet with all of the other gadgets of yesteryear. And that meant that the programmers and designers and engineers that built the gadgets had to always be keeping up learning new skills, experimenting with new technologies, trying out new things.And what youll need to realize is that the same is true of your career.Its no longer going to be enough to get a college degree, pass a professional test and slowly make your way up the ladder over years and years.Companies need employees who are ab le to help them win despite the chaos. Employees who can thrive, and compete, and grow when the industry, and competitors, and even customers are changing in a turbulent, unpredictable way.Even technology winners turn over pretty quickly these days. It was less than a decade ago that Blackberry, Yahoo, Nokia, and Monster.com were the tischrede of the town. Today they are much smaller competitors in their industries than they used to be.For you and your career this means that yesterdays wins do very little to ensure tomorrows future.Whats required of you is not that you learned something valuable once upon a time, but that you are constantly learning the new things learning new skills, understanding the new dynamics, and thriving in a new competitive environment.Its not a light burden, and you should be aware of that. It will take time and hours and attention.It means setting aside the time to pick up new software skills. It means going to the new technology demos at your industry tr ade shows. It means paying a little more attention to the tech trends articles that get passed around on social media and your company mailing lists. It means once in a while, being the person that finds the tech trends article and passes it around on the company mailing list.It means a lot of effort on your part - theres no use pretending that all of this will come for free.But in an economy where a tech company can buy your local grocer, there is no industry, no company, and no career that can succeed without embracing change.Remember that the next time you go to the bookstore to buy a tomato.Im rooting for you

Filling out time sheets, surveys, performance evaluations and expense reports are all examples of this type of data.Ambient data is information about a behavior that is automatically collected without the user having to actively enter each data point. Swiping into work with an active RFID badge, sending e-mails, making calls, and even adding events to an electronic calendar are all examples of ambient data.The problem with self-reported data is that it is rife with biases. Too much of the information being tracked has been filtered through the interpretations of the people who input it. They might have distorted it deliberately, much as an employee might fill in a time sheet to reflect what they think their boss wants to see rather than how they really spent their time.Or it might happen subconsciously. A self-evaluation can skew more positively or negatively depending on a persons beliefs about their own behaviors, strengths, and aptitudes.While there are times and places when self-reported data can be valuable, in general, decoded organizations should focus their attention on tracking and analyzing ambient data. There are several advantages to using ambient instead of self-reported data streams.No behavioral shifts needed Ambient data enables companies to track behavior without having to depend upon behavioral changes to do it.Ambient data collection is hassle-free, both for leaders who want to implement unterstellung policies and for staff who are looking to avoid the extra effort required to adhere to new regulations or processes.Neutral Perspective Ambient data provides a level of neutral and objective transparency that isnt influenced by personal bias or varying standards. What one person considers an exceptional performance might be rated only satisfactory by another.Ambient data strips all of that away and looks at the core of whats been measured.The Impact of DataUltimately, being a Decoded Company is about experimenting to find the right mix of data, of the information that establishes a direct relationship between an individuals decisions and their impact on the business. Buy-outs at shows are often used in place of the rider, but sometimes musician buy-outs are used for things like accommodation as well. When booking a concert or gig, the rider is a standard contract item. Other than actually playing on stage, it is usually musicians favorite part of the show. Promoters arent so crazy about riders, because its not a fixed cost, and can vary greatly from one musician to another. Thats why a lot of promoters prefer buy-out provisions instead. How Riders and Buy-Outs Differ Heres how riders and buy-outs tend to differ. Costs can vary with riders. With a rider, the amount a promoter will cover can vary from providing drinks, to covering the costs of makeup artists, meals, snacks and drinks for the band and its entire entourage. Most show promoters are savvy enough to negotiate the terms of the rider before the show, to make sure its clear that everyone is on the same page, and what the musicians expect. Obviously, the more popular musicians who draw in large crowds are in a better position to make greater demands. A rider is more specific. You can note preferences, dietary or otherwise, clearly spelled out with specific information in a rider. If a band member wants a vegetarian meal or has a food allergy, that would be covered under the rider. Riders can specify things beyond basic food and beverage. This is where costs can pile up for the show promoters. Dressing rooms, including furniture preferences, flowers, WiFi access and other comforts could be included. Needless to say, not every musician is really in the position to demand an elaborate rider, but promoters have to decide whether the ones who bring in a lot of ticket sales are worth the variable costs to keep them happy. A buy-ou t arrangement is more work for promoters. This is a way to try to keep performers fed and soothed. Instead of actually buying whatever food, drink, and other amenities musicians demand, the buy-out is a lump sum paid to the band so they can buy their own stuff. Sometimes, musicians prefer this kind of arrangement, because they can get exactly what they want. Buy-outs are usually a better deal for promoters. If theyre frugal, performers might end up spending less on food and drinks than the promoter paid them for those costs. It takes away the headache of having to shop for and coordinate all the things the band wants, and pay a fixed amount to let the band handle the purchases on their own. With a buy-out, promoters dont have to worry about the band finding fault with whats provided. In many cases, the band is happy to have a gig that pays them, never mind demanding fresh flowers or designer drinks. But knowing what a promoters standard contract usually includes is a good idea. If t here are things the promoter would provide other bands, it doesnt hurt to ask. Just make sure youre not negotiating your way out of a gig by being too fussy. If youre a musician, be sure to discuss this with your manager before signing a contract with them so they can do negotiations on your behalf.

Army National Guard MOS 79T Recruiting and Retention NCO Army National Guard MOS 79T Recruiting and Retention NCO Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) recruit and retain qualified soldiers for entry into the Army National Guard following applicable regulations. It is not an entry-level job and is only available to NCOs in the Army National Guard The Army National Guard and the Air National Guard form a militia and military, federal reserve force. The Army National Guard is divided into subordinate units with reservists stationed in each of the 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia. They each operate under their respective governors. This Army National Guard job is categorized as military occupational specialty (MOS) 79T.   Recruiting Like civilian company recruiters do for private companies, soldiers in MOS 79T work to find the best talent for the Armys needs. Their duties include prospecting and refining leads, and determining whether a potential recruit is eligible for enlistment. It may involve helping them to pre-qualify for enlistment, or investigating whether someone is eligible for reenlistment.   Some recruiters in the Army National Guard develop and conduct recruiting events at schools. For any new or potential recruit, its up to the recruiting and retention NCO to explain such incentive programs as the Montgomery GI Bill, and any initial entry training requirements. They also get recruits up to speed on initial entry training requirements, and counsels applicants, answering any questions or concerns they have. These soldiers are trained to make sure recruits have information about any family-related programs and benefits theyll receive after joining the Army Marketing and Advertising Another part of this job involves developing media contacts, to help publicize any recruitment efforts or events, and developing talking points for interviews, so first line leaders can accurately answer questions. Theyll write scripts for ads and marketing copy, and will also oversee direct mail campaigns, much like any civilian marketing executive would. And of course, theyll oversee the marketing and advertising budget.   In addition to bringing new personnel into the Army, the recruitment and retention specialists reviews requests for separation, transfer, and discharge, and reviews any necessary procedures related to these requests with the soldier in question.   Training To qualify for MOS 79T, youll need a 100 in the general technical (GT) aptitude area of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) tests. It is waivable to a score of 100 if you also score 100 on the skilled technical (ST) area of the ASVAB. There is no Department of Defense security clearance required for this job, but you must have either a high school diploma or one year of college and a high school GED. You have to have a record free of any convictions of sexual offenses, either in special or general courts-martial or civilian court. These are outlined in AR 27-10 the Military Justice code, under chapter 24.   Similar Civilian Occupations Youll be well positioned for careers in marketing, advertising, and recruitment at civilian companies, and may be able to pursue jobs in human resources departments as well.

Plus, while 33% of working people think they’ll be able to retire between ages 65 and 69, 38% think they’ll have to retire at age 70 or later.Harris Poll surveyed 2,003 American adults for Northwestern Mutual.  Here are a few of the points that stood out.How prepared Americans are for retirementThe research found that among Baby Boomers, 33% have saved up $0-$25,000 for retirement. Around “one in three” people surveyed haven’t hit $5,000 in retirement savings yet.Among those who haven’t retired yet, people have varying opinions on the future of Social Security: 24% think it’s “not at all likely” that it will be around when they reach their Golden Years, 51% think it’s “somewhat likely” that it will be and 24% think it’s “extremely likely.”Rebekah Barsch, vice president of planning for Northwestern Mutual, commented on the research in a statement.“As financial implications of retirement become increasingly complex, inertia just isn’t an option…The good news is that it’s rarely too late to start. In fact, we often compare financial and physical fitness because the hardest part is taking the first step. However, once people commit to a strategy and start seeing positive results, they’re motivated to meet and even exceed their goals.”People plan to retire at different agesOf those who plan to put off retirement by working beyond age 65, 45% want to do so  Ã¢€œby choice,” with wanting “additional disposable income” being the top reason why at 55%.Fifty-five percent think they’ll do it out of “necessity,” with the top re ason being that they won’t have enough money put away “to retire comfortably,” at 73%.So, just how freaked out are people about being able to have a “comfortable retirement” when it comes to their finances?While 22% aren’t “concerned” at all, 52% are “somewhat concerned” and 26% are “extremely concerned.” This data echoes separate, recent findings that 46% of non-retired Americans don’t think they’ll have enough money when they officially leave the workforce.

Some career paths involve direct care and management of production animals, while other positions provide educational or veterinary support to those direct care providers. Here are some careers in livestock. Beef Cattle Farmer Beef farmers raise many species of beef cattle as a part of the meat production industry. There are two major types of beef cattle producers: cow-calf or feedlot operations. Cow-calf operations breed their own calves and raise them to weaning age, where they are sold to feedlots. Feedlot operations purchase weaned calves and raise them to market weight. Dairy Farmer Dairy farmers manage cattle used for milk production. Many operations also raise their own replacement heifers to add to the herd. Dairy farms may be smaller family farms (which are frequently part of cooperatives) or larger corporate production farms. Dairy farmers seek to increase the milk production yield of their herd through careful management and selective breeding. Egg Farmer Egg farmers care for laying hens used in the egg production industry. They may raise their own replacement stock and cull older hens to sell to meat producers. Operations can be large commercial entities or smaller family farms, and these facilities can either be cage-based or “free range.” Poultry Farmer Poultry farmers raise chickens, turkeys, or other birds for meat production. The most popular area of poultry production is broiler production (broilers are young chickens raised for meat). Farms can range from large indoor commercial operations to smaller “free range” or organic broiler production facilities. Aquaculture Farmer Aquaculture farmers raise fish and shellfish for use as food, bait, or breeding stock. Breeding industry roles may also include management positions such as stallion manager or broodmare manager. Pig Farmer Pig farmers raise swine as a part of the pork production industry. They may be involved in farrow-to-finish operations (raising pigs from birth to market weight), feeder pig operations (raising piglets from birth to less than 60 pounds), and finisher operations (which raise piglets obtained from feeder pig operations and raise them to market weight). There are also career paths in pets. Dog Breeder Dog breeders produce purebred dogs for show, sport, breeding, or companionship. Animal Geneticist Animal geneticists study genes and heritability of traits in animal populations. Veterinary Theriogenologist Veterinary theriogenologists are specialists with advanced training in reproductive medical techniques. They may work in clinical practice, research, private industry, or academia. Board certification as a veterinary theriogenologist requires at least 3 additional years of experience after completion of a basic Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Animal Health Inspector Animal health inspectors oversee animal production facilities (including dairies, hatcheries, and feedlots) to ensure that humane standards and legal regulations are enforced. Health inspectors travel extensively to complete their duties. Agricultural Extension Agent Agricultural extension agents present information to local livestock producers and advise them on a variety of management decisions. These agents must be familiar with a wide variety of animal operations including those involved in dairy, beef, poultry, and swine production. Equine Extension Agent Equine extension agents advise individuals in the horse industry (including breeders) on management decisions and advances in equine care.
